Timber Ridge was founded in 1993 by Tom and Laurie Hibbert. The site in Rowan County was chosen to be within an hour's drive of Charlotte, Winston-Salem, and Greensboro and still provide a wilderness experience.

The founders' vision was to maintain a small facility emphasizing excellent services and making long lasting changes with the children in their care. Timber Ridge's mission is to provide an opportunity for our residents and staff to become individuals of integrity. This includes a positive value system, a work ethic, and a sense of responsibility to self, family, and others.
